1. ARE YOUR UNITS DRY? (Non-Climate Controlled) FAQs We took special precautions when we designed our facility to assure dry conditions. A professionally engineered underground drainage system moves surface water away rapidly to catch basins which in turn are linked to underground culverts that carry the water quickly away from the storage area to a drainage pond.
Steeply gabled roofs (no flat roofs) shed water quickly. The ceilings inside our units are insulated to prevent condensation. The floor level of each unit is raised well above the surrounding drive to prevent any possible water entry. 2. ARE YOUR UNITS CLEAN? (Non-Climate Controlled) We offer you a newer facility that is kept consistently neat and clean. The storage units have door tracks and seals that limit dust. Asphalt paving provides a dirt and dust free driving surface. Sealed concrete floors are cleaned regularly to provide you with a clean site to store your things. 3. WHAT ABOUT OUR SECURITY? (Non-Climate Controlled) Our facility is fenced and gated. Access is provided by means of a computer controlled gate. Individual access codes are provided only to tenants, emergency and fire and police departments and our personnel. Gate operating software identifies and records the gate code used and the time of each entry and exit from the facility. Video camera monitors gate activity 24 hours a day. Police and fire protection are provided by the City of Waukesha. A fire hydrant is located on the premises. 4. WHAT ABOUT LIGHTING? (Non-Climate Controlled) Lighting is provided by 150 building mounted area lighting fixtures throughout the facility. Lighting operates from dusk until dawn 365 days per year. The driveway approach to our facility is also lighted by large overhead fixtures from dusk until dawn. 5. WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT? You will place your padlock on your unit and you are the only one who will have access to your storage unit. 6. WHEN WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT? Your personal access code will allow you to enter the facility 7 days per week - 24 hours a day. 7. WHAT IF I FORGET MY GATE CODE OR HAVE AN EMERGENCY WHEN I AM AT THE STORAGE FACILITY? Our facility is locally owned and operated and our management is on the premises during our regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily and from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
8. PESTS AND RODENTS? (Non-Climate Controlled) Our facility is fully paved which is a deterrent to pests and rodents, and is monitored and maintained regularly by a professional pest and rodent elimination company. 9. HOW CAN I DETERMINE WHAT SIZE STORAGE UNIT I WILL NEED? (Non-Climate Controlled) We can provide you with pamphlets that will give you the space required for virtually every piece of furniture as well as the best way to utilize self storage. In addition a quick guide to approximate size requirements is as follows:
If you would like to stop by and let us show you the various sizes that will help you choose the size space that you need. We are also quite flexible. If you find that you need to increase or decrease the size of your unit we will be glad to work with you to see that you have the size you need if your needs change. 10. DO I NEED CLIMATE CONTROL FOR STORING HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGS? The vast majority of our customers are using our non climate controlled storage facility for household goods while they are between apartments or homes. Our customers have been storing their things without a problem for anywhere from a few weeks to a year or more. 10. WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE? We strongly suggest that you contact your insurance company and advise them that you are utilizing self storage space to be certain that you have adequate insurance coverage. Our insurance does not cover your goods. 12. WHAT ABOUT AUTO AND BOAT STORAGE? (Non-Climate Controlled) We have a number of units rented for auto and boat storage. We have a 20 horsepower Simplicity tractor with which we can help you move your boat in and out for seasonal storage. We suggest that you stop by and look at our units to see if they will meet your needs. You can bring a boat or car to see just what size space meets your needs. 13. HOW DO WE GET STARTED RENTING A STORAGE UNIT? You can stop at our office and we can complete a rental agreement and have you ready to occupy your unit in about ten minutes. If you are pressed for time or out of town we can also handle the rental over the phone or by mail . 14. HOW IS THE RENTAL PAID?We do not require a security deposit or an administrative fee. We will pro-rate the rental for the first month from the date that you want to start your occupancy. Subsequent months rent will be billed on the first of each month thereafter. Rent is paid only one month at a time no matter how long a term you choose to occupy you unit. Most of our customers prefer that we charge their credit card each month so that they do not have to stop by in or mail a check each month. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. 15. WHEN CAN WE SEE YOUR FACILITY TO SEE IF ITS IS RIGHT FOR US? 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays except holidays 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays except holidays Or, if those hours are inconvenient for you just call and we'll make special arrangements to meet you here at your convenience. 16. WHERE IS SCENIC SELF STORAGE LOCATED? Our office and storage units are at 900 Silvernail Road just one mile east of the intersection of Silvernail Road and Grandview Blvd. Our drive is the first drive west of Peterbuilt Trucking on the north side of Silvernail Road. Our office and climate controlled storage is in the building on the east (right) side of the drive entrance. To reach the non-climate controlled storage units, continue on down the drive past the office and then turn to the left as shown in the drawing below.
